Anne Patterson conceived of the exhibition design for the first major art museum exhibition to examine Houdini’s life, legend, and enduring cultural influence. Moving through the exhibition space, Patterson’s design emphasizes the theatrical nature of the famed magician and illusionist’s impact. Art and Magic features 26 recent works of art in a variety of media by such artists as Matthew Barney, Jane Hammond, Vik Muniz, and Raymond Pettibon.
