Graced With Light

Grace Cathedral
San Francisco, CA

March 2013 - January 2014

As the 2013 Grace Cathedral Artist-in-Residence, Patterson created a music-inspired fiber art installation that incorporated the cathedral’s vaulted ceiling arches and nearly 20 miles of ribbon. She said, “I envisioned a series of light pathways, connecting heaven and earth, manifest as ribbons.” Visitors were invited to write their prayers, dreams and wishes on the red fabric before it was hung. The ribbons carried the messages skyward, and, in turn, grace streamed down the ribbons to the viewers.
